“¿Para qué sirve un oso?” goes on general release

Today sees the film “¿Para qué sirve un oso?”, directed by Tom Fernández, go on general release around Spain. Javier Cámara and Gonzalo de Castro star in this comedy alongside Emma Suárez, Geraldine Chaplin, Oona Chaplin and Jesse Johnson.

“¿Para qué sirve un oso?” was received with warm applause last Saturday as it opened the 14th edition of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival with the audience highlighting the chemistry between the two lead actors, Javier Cámara and Gonzalo de Castro.

Co-produced by Versátil Cinema and Alta Producción, with executive production by MEDIAPRO, filming took place last autumn over the course of six weeks in Asturias and Iceland.

Places used in Asturias for the filming included: Somiedo, Quirós, San Martín, Fresnedo, Puerto de Maravío, Vigidel and Villar.

Tom Fernández, who made his feature-length film directing debut with “La Torre de Suso”, a MEDIAPRO produced film, says that “¿Para qué sirve un oso?” is a fun film for all the family with a positive environmental message but without shouting it from the rooftops it gets the point across that we have to save the planet from ourselves.

Plot:

Alejandro and Guillermo are two brothers from Asturias in love with nature since their childhood. Today, Alejandro is a legend in the world of zoology, an adventurer who researches wildlife, living with the animals he’s studying. Guillermo is an internationally famous biologist, multiple-award winner, who has spent his life investigating climate change. Now they have to work together to help save the planet.

TVE and Televisió de Catalunya are both supporting the film which also sees the backing of the Asturias Regional Government Tourist Board as well as the Asturias Tourist Promotion Plan and the region’s Film Commission.

The film distribution, which premieres on 1st April, will be carried out by Alta Classics. Imagina Internacional Sales is responsible for the international sales.
