MEDIAPRO intensifies its campaign to detect possible illegal broadcasts
The National Police Force has started court proceedings against 53 bars and restaurants around Spain for intellectual property and/or telecommunication offences. The police have investigated a host of different public establishments, including bars, beer houses, restaurants and cafés where an illegal domestic signal was being broadcast.
MEDIAPRO is in the process of adopting a series of measures that will facilitate the identification of public places which broadcast football without authorization including among others the showing of a distinctive on-screen logo for the GOL BAR subscribers.
The police are currently investigating hundreds of possible offences and are in the process collecting documental evidence. This latest police campaign has so far been very successful with 231 cases under investigation.
There are currently more than 25,000 public places that legally broadcast the channel via any of the distribution platforms. The places that broadcast GOL T content without authorization run the risk of having their signal cut off at any time and with no prior warning.
Furthermore, the places that are illegally broadcasting GOL T content will also face the prospect of having to pay the correct monthly back instalments as well as compensation for damages in addition to the costs associated with the process.
After an initial period of voluntary regularization of the situation, MEDIAPRO has intensified the capture of data and documental proof against public places broadcasting the signal, cutting off 1,841 sites, just on the TDT platform.
